![]() ![]() Finally, ensure there are no firewalls or iptables on the Postgres server that are blocking connections. Make sure this is set up correctly to accept connections from your IP. If the connection is still failing, then there might be a permission issue in the pg_hba.conf access configuration file. You can also look at the listen_address and port value in your nf to make sure Postgres is accepting connections on the address and port you expect. The postgres process should be connected there. 3.5 Click New Rule on the right-hand side of the window. 3.4 Click Inbound Rules on the left-hand side of the window. 3.3 Click Advanced settings on the left-hand side of the window. If you are trying to connect to a Postgres instance on the same host as your terminal, you can run lsof -p :5432 which will show which, if any, processes are listening on that port. Configure the Windows Firewall to allow incoming connections to PostgreSQL. The Solutionįirst, double check that the Postgres process is running where you expect it to be. Simply adding the -i option is not enough. You must add the -i option to the /etc/sysconfig/pgsql/postgresql configuration file which is used to start the server. It occurs because Postgres isn’t listening on the correct port (5432 is what psql expects by default) or there is an issue connecting from your computer to that port. To enable the PostgreSQL server to accept TCP connections, you must modify two configuration files and then restart the server. I tried to set up the tcp connection using the cloudflared access tcp command as so: cloudflared access tcp -tunnel-host -url :5432. listenaddresses option to control the interface where the port will be listening. The default port number is 5432 but you can change it as required. When configuring Postgres initially, this error is quite common: psql: could not connect to server: Connection refused Is the server running on host "" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432. Obviously the Postgres database is a managed database therefore it is not running on the same server where the tunnel is running. Edit the PostgreSQL configuration file, using a text editor such as vi. The port option sets the PostgreSQL server port number that will be used when listening for TCP/ IP connections. ![]()
